“My family constantly prodded me and encouraged me to seek a graduate degree,” she said.
Linda Skrla, associate dean for Research and P-16 Initiatives and mentor to Reister-Wood, presented Reister-Wood her award.
The award is given in honor of Paul R. Hensarling, a former Texas school superintendent, who also served as head of the Department of Education and Psychology and was Professor Emeritus of the Department of Educational Administration at Texas A&M. He developed proposals leading to the creation of the College of Education and its doctoral programs and attracted many outstanding faculty.
“Education is all about learning,” Reister-Wood said. “Children cause us to craft our practice every single day.”
The Administrative Leadership Institute is sponsored by the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M, the Texas Association of School Administrators and Dell Computer Corporation.
