Texas A&M Club of North Louisiana Establishes Scholarship
October 28, 2008
The one year scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and financial need. The recipient must have a 3.5 or higher GPR during their senior year of high school or be in the top 5% of their class their senior year. Because many graduating high school students may not have selected a specific area of study, this scholarship is designed for incoming Aggies with a general studies major.
The members of the A&M Club of North Louisiana are committed to the former student mission of giving back to the University so that others can have the opportunity to become a part of the Aggie Spirit. Leading this effort are club President Jimmy J. Wilson '98, Immediate Past President Bonnie Martin '88, Finance VP Greg Martin '87, and VP High School Relations (and Aggie Dad) Mark Middlebrooks. The progress towards funding the scholarship has been swift; the club has already raised over half of the total needed. The Texas A&M Foundation helps former students, friends, corporations and other non-profit organizations direct contributions to specific academic and leadership programs. Its asset managers ensure that endowments like the Texas A&M Club of North Louisiana Endowed Scholarship retain or grow in value over time so that Aggies will benefit well into the future.
Donors may direct their gifts, large or small, to an existing scholarship fund or design and name their own scholarship. Scholarships can be set up as endowments or a non-endowed scholarship, in which the gift provides the scholarship stipend on a one-time basis.
