Bonfire Memorial Gifts
Donors paid tribute to those lost and injured in the 1999 Bonfire collapse through 13 Bonfire Memorial Endowed Scholarships established through the Texas A&M Foundation. These generous donations funded 12 named scholarships in memory of each Aggie who died and one for those injured. Because these scholarships are endowed, they will benefit A&M students forever.
Support Existing Bonfire Scholarships
To contribute to a pooled fund that will be equally distributed to each of the 13 Bonfire scholarship endowments, click the "Give Now" button at the top of the page and select "Texas A&M Foundation" and "Bonfire Memorial Fund" from the two drop-down menus. The contributions to these endowments will increase the stipends to deserving Texas A&M students benefiting from the 13 scholarships.
Create a New Bonfire Scholarship
You can also choose to create a named endowed scholarship of your own to celebrate the lives of those lost and injured in the collapse. An endowed scholarship can be established by an individual or group with a one-time gift of at least $25,000 or with a series of installments over a period of up to five years.
Because the Texas A&M Foundation manages the endowment to pay for the current student scholarship while simultaneously providing for the long-term growth of the principal, you'll support students in perpetuity.
The establishment of a new endowed scholarship would contribute to the $300 million goal of Texas A&M's scholarship initiative, Operation Spirit and Mind.SM
