Receiving a PES

How are students chosen?

Each March, President’s Endowed Scholarships are awarded by Texas A&M University’s Academic Scholarship Selection Committee to outstanding high school seniors. In order to compete for a scholarship, students must have either a 1300 SAT or 30 ACT score, or semifinalist or commended standing in the scholarship competitions sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or College Board. Students must also have strong records of school or community leadership. Applications are available to students and high school counselors through Texas A&M’s Honors Program.

When are students assigned?

Students are selected in February and assigned to specific scholarships at the beginning of the Fall semester. A student will be assigned to your scholarship no earlier than 18 months after the endowment is completed (unless you agree to provide the first year’s stipend in addition to the endowment). This allows the endowment principal enough time to generate sufficient funds to provide a yearly stipend and a one-time 5 percent development fee. Scholars receive the award for eight semesters of  undergraduate study, provided they maintain a 3.0 grade point ratio.

Is there a way I can talk with other PES students?

Yes, the PES Virtual Community is a gathering place that is tailor-made for scholars and donors, past and present, of the President’s Endowed Scholarship program at Texas A&M University.
