Jon L. Hagler Visits Texas A&M Foundation

Jon L. Hagler ’58 paid a visit to Aggieland April 21 to attend the Maroon and White football game, Aggie Muster and to visit with the staff of the Texas A&M Foundation.

Hagler is the lead donor to and namesake of the Foundation’s headquarters, the beautiful Jon. L. Hagler Center on George Bush Drive.  A resident of Dover, Jon HaglerMass., he is director of a Boston-based investment firm. He was a member of the Foundation’s board of trustees for seven years, serving as chairman in 1999. In recognition of his dedication and leadership, the Foundation in 2003 named him “trustee emeritus,” only the second such honor it has bestowed in its 50-year history. Hagler also is the 2005 recipient of the Foundation’s coveted Sterling C. Evans Medal.

Among his numerous gifts to Texas A&M are a $5 million commitment to the One Spirit One Vision Campaign and an $800,000 pass-through gift for Foundation Excellence Award scholarships.In 2007 he gave an additional $50,000 to the FEA fund. Additionally, in September of 2007 Hagler partnered with the Greater Texas Foundation on an FEA Scholarship endowment, and each party gave $100,000.

Hagler was a leader in Texas A&M’s landmark strategic planning initiative, Vision 2020, serving as co-chair of the Executive Committee and later as co-chair of the Advisory Council. In 1999 Jon was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University.

While attending Texas A&M, Jon  served as Cadet Colonel in the Corps of Cadets, participated in a number of student organizations, achieved academic honors and was elected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.Following graduation, he served as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army until 1963 and also attended parachute and helicopter pilot schools. In 2003 he was inducted into the elite "Corps Hall of Honor."
