The Texas A&M University at Galveston campus will not reopen in the immediate future because of Hurricane Ike damages throughout Galveston, prompting Texas A&M University President Elsa Murano to offer TAMUG students the opportunity to attend specially arranged classes in College Station as of Wednesday, Sept. 24.

The Hurricane Ike Student Assistance Fund will help Galveston students with school expenses related to the transfer. This will include books, tuition, fees and endowed scholarships to ensure future academic continuity in times of disaster.
