SUPPORT SPIRIT AND MIND

Attract the Best and Brightest

In high schools across the country, only the top students apply for President’s Endowed Scholarships—the premier scholarships at Texas A&M. As our university continues on its way to becoming one of the country’s most prestigious institutions, it’s essential that it attract the nation’s top high school seniors. Since 1968, the merit-based PES program has been inspiring high-achieving high school seniors to make Texas A&M University their school of choice.

Giving a PES

How much does a scholarship cost?

A President’s Endowed Scholarship (PES) can be established by an individual or group with a one-time gift of $100,000 or with a series of installments over a period of up to five years. Only the income from the program’s endowment is used to award annual stipends. Donors may name the scholarship in honor of individuals (family members, a business colleague or a friend), a class or an organization. The scholarship may be established with a gift of cash, negotiable securities, real estate or other real property.

Can a donor set student qualifications?

While restrictions cannot be placed on a scholarship, donors are free to indicate preferences such as geographic area or major. Every effort will be made to match students with the donors’ stated preferences; however, scholarship agreements state that if students cannot be found to meet the requested criteria, scholarships will be awarded to other qualified candidates.

Will donors meet their scholars and be kept advised of their academic progress?

PES recipients receive biographical information about their donors and are asked to correspond with them. Donors are given biographical data about their students and receive current grade reports following the Spring and Fall semesters. Additionally, each Fall a reception is held on campus so that donors can meet the recipients of their scholarships.

When and how are donors recognized for their PES gifts?

When the scholarship is 75 percent funded, the foundation will begin preparing a recognition plaque. Donors of President’s Endowed Scholarships receive a large plaque (14" x 18") honoring the person/persons for whom the scholarship is named. A smaller plaque (6" x 7") is added to the permanent display on the Master Recognition Board located in the Memorial Student Center. In addition, all PES donors are recognized in Spirit magazine.
