SUPPORT SPIRIT AND MIND

Reach Out to Under-Represented Students

The demographics of the nation and Texas are changing. In the Lone Star State, no single ethnic group represents a majority of the population: Hispanics comprise about 40 percent of the population and African Americans about 11 percent. Texas A&M University is challenged to reflect these shifting demographics while it retains its high standards for academics, and to do so without using ethnicity as criteria for admission. The Foundation Excellence Award (FEA) scholarship program helps the university to meet this challenge.

Diversity and excellence go hand in hand at Texas A&M. A diverse student body offers students a culturally rich experience that better prepares them for life beyond college. FEA scholarships help recruit and retain outstanding under-represented students that might otherwise attend out-of-state schools. Every year, more and more individual and corporate donors support this meaningful program. If you’re ready to give back to Texas A&M and value diversity, the FEA scholarship program is the perfect venue.

FEA's are Personally Rewarding

The Foundation will thoughtfully match you with the student who receives your scholarship. You’ll have the opportunity to develop and ongoing relationship, to share ideas and dreams. These relationships can continue long after graduation. For many students, this kind of mentoring is invaluable. An FEA recipient might be the first in his or her family to attend college, and having a former student to turn to can make this new world more comfortable. We encourage donors and recipients to correspond, and some donors and recipients get together regularly. You’ll have at least one opportunity to connect in person at an annual event held on campus in the fall. These occasions are a great way to meet other recipients and other donors, as well.
