Overview
Which scholarship program you fund is a personal decision with equally personal rewards. Our undergraduate scholarship programs offer special opportunities for donors and students to get to know one another. The relationships that develop can last a lifetime.
Each of the scholarship programs selects its scholars from a pool of qualified applicants. Once a student meets the minimum qualifications (which can be quite strenuous), the top students are awarded scholarships based on their high-school activities, community involvement and the rigor of their class schedule. For example, a scholarship based on academic achievement would have minimum academic thresholds to qualify; students who meet these requirements are then evaluated on several other criteria such as high-school involvement.
Key Undergraduate Academic Scholarship Programs:
• President’s Endowed Scholarships (PES), are based on academic achievement.
• Foundation Excellence Award (FEA) scholarships, given to historically disadvantaged groups often underrepresented in our student body such as minorities and those who face economic hurdles.
• Endowed Opportunity Award (EOA) scholarships are based on financial need.
• Regents Scholars are designated for first-generation college students with financial need. Regent Scholars are required to live on-campus their freshmen year and participate in one of A&M’s success programs.
• Study Abroad Scholarships allow students in our increasingly interdependent world to gain first-hand understanding of different cultures. Students who have studied abroad find themselves at a distinct advantage in the business and academic worlds, in addition to having had an experience which they will never forget. Programs vary in length, from year to semester to summer to less than one month programs. Scholarships allow students to participate who may not have considered international travel possible.
There are also many college- and department-based scholarships. Contact us for information about these.
Merit scholarships are particularly prestigious because they fund high-achieving students who raise the bar for everyone—teachers and fellow students alike. Diversity and excellence go hand in hand at Texas A&M. A diverse student body offers students a culturally rich experience that better prepares them for life beyond college.
Because an endowed scholarship funds a student with only the earnings on the principal, your gift keeps giving, decade after decade. The Foundation also handles pass-through scholarships, which are awarded for a single year or semester. Creating a gift of your own design rather than giving through one of our existing programs is possible as well.
