SPIRIT AND MIND

A nonprofit partner to a great university

As a separate funding agency, it’s our goal to ensure that Texas A&M grows in stature and that more Aggies follow their dreams. Texas A&M receives less than 30 percent of its total budget from state appropriations. It is likely this percentage will decrease over time, making our role increasingly vital. Because state funds typically cover only basic salaries for faculty, Texas A&M relies on private support to recruit and retain its most deserving faculty.

At the same time, some of the best and brightest high school students can’t afford today’s tuition without scholarships. New construction rarely occurs without the generous support of donors. The gifts we receive in large part determine the future of this great university. Raising funds for Texas A&M through a separate nonprofit foundation has multiple benefits: we can be more flexible in our investments to increase our earnings; we make sure that funds are used for the purposes designated by the donor; and we respect donors’ privacy by keeping personal giving and financial records confidential. This partnership that the Foundation has forged with Texas A&M is perpetual and powerful.

Your gift can enhance one of four areas of Texas A&M:

  • Student- support Texas A&M graduate and undergraduate students through graduate student  fellowships and the President’s Endowed Scholarship (PES ) program, through an Endowed Opportunity Award (EOA ) or a Foundation Excellence Award (FEA ), the former of which nurture students of economic need, the latter exceptional students from underrepresented groups.
  • Faculty-top-notch faculty members attract not only other superb professors but also the best quality students. Invest in the potential of one faculty member and you affect the lives of hundreds of students.
  • College- An endowed discretionary gift that allows the dean or department head to choose how best to use your gift is especially valuable and can help shape the future of your college.
  • Spirit- the character-building education found at Texas A&M teaches students how to lead others and to live ethically and positively. Eight hundred student organizations, ranging from MSC committees to Fish Camp to the Corps of Cadets, add to this out-of-the-classroom vitality.
