DIRECT SPIRIT AND MIND

College

Since Vision 2020 set the university’s sights on becoming one of the nation’s top public schools by the year 2020, every college has set higher goals for itself. To fulfill these aspirations, facilities must be state-of-the art and faculty among the best in their field. Exceptional programs and facilities attract and retain exceptional faculty, who, in turn, attract the best graduate and undergraduate students to the university. The priorities in every college and department are continually changing. That’s why we encourage you to consider a discretionary gift to the college of your choice. It’s both generous and practical. Giving to Texas A&M is a moving experience.

Here are a few examples of how your college or department might use your discretionary funds:

  • Equipment acquisition
  • Student academic activities, such as student competitions or travel to conferences
  • Faculty teaching awards
  • Faculty career development, which helps departments retain exceptional new faculty that might otherwise be recruited by other institutions, allowing more students to study in a certain discipline
  • Special events that are not otherwise funded.

In addition to discretionary funds, you can also support your college or department by donating equipment such lab equipment or upgrading the communications equipment in a lecture hall.  You can also donate funds for new building construction or existing building enhancements.  Some corporations contribute gifts-in-kind to support colleges and departments at A&M.
