Texas A&M Foundation Privacy Statement
In recognition of our complementary missions, Texas A&M Foundation and The Association of Former Students maintain a joint database of former student and donor records to provide superior service in a cost effective and efficient manner to both you and Texas A&M University. The following information will provide you with an understanding of the efforts we make to protect this information on behalf of former students and friends.
Information collection & use
Registration
Registration is not required to use the Texas A&M Foundation Web site. If you choose to register, information requested during registration will include your full name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number.
Updating your contact information
You can update your contact information for the shared database between The Association of Former Students and the Foundation here.
Uses of information
We collect personally identifiable information when processing your gifts online or receipting gifts or responding to inquiries by other methods. This information may be supplemented or updated from public sources if relevant to advance our mission. We use postal service returned addresses and other related services to maintain accurate donor mailing records.
We periodically conduct surveys about our services. We may use a third party service provider to conduct these surveys. Any third party provider using personally identifiable information for purposes of a survey on our behalf will be prohibited from using this information for any other purpose.
Communications from this site
Newsletters
Current and past donors to the Texas A&M Foundation receive periodic newsletters and reports from us by mail. If you wish to receive newsletters by email you may do so by sending a request to us at amfoundation@tamu.edu. Out of respect for your privacy, you may unsubscribe from email communications or request removal from our mailing list at the “Choice and Opt-out” section.
Information sharing
The Texas A&M Foundation does not sell or share information for commercial solicitation or political purposes.
With Texas A&M University
Information about you is shared with Texas A&M University to provide for appropriate administration of donated funds, with students of scholarships you have funded to allow students to express appreciation for this support, with the college granting your degree so you may be provided with opportunities for continuing education, newsletters, reunions, etc., and to support the continued success of Texas A&M University.
With honorees
Texas A&M Foundation provides names and addresses of individuals who make memorial and honorary gifts to allow family members to thank those contributors personally. Individuals’ contribution amounts are not provided.
With volunteers and affiliates
Information may be shared with our volunteers in the course of planning for solicitations, campaigns and fund-raising events, or with class agents from the Association of Former Students for class gifts or projects. Information may be shared with other non-profit organizations affiliated with Texas A&M University, such as the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation or the 12th Man Foundation, to assist them in performing their missions in support of Texas A&M University.
Information provided to the Texas A&M Foundation and stored on the unified database is accessible to The Association of Former Students. You should review the privacy policy of The Association of Formers Students, www.aggienetwork.com, for disclosure of how they may utilize this information.
Legal request
The Texas A&M Foundation is a non-governmental entity which is not subject to the information disclosure requirements to which Texas A&M University is subject as a state agency. However, information provided to Texas A&M University is subject to disclosure in accordance with state law.
The Texas A&M Foundation will respond to a valid legal request for information.
Log files
You can browse our Web site without giving us any personal information. However, we use Web analytic products, commonly referred to as log files, to analyze traffic to our Web site in order to understand visitors’ interests and to continually update our site to improve their experience. Our analytics software does not collect any personal information but provides information such as browser type, referring pages, pages visited and time spent on the site.
We do not monitor the browsing patterns of individual visitors across our Web site or combine traffic analysis information with personal information such as name or mailing address.
Clear GIFs
Our analytics software also employs a technology called clear GIFs that helps us better evaluate the content of our Web site for effectiveness. Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier similar in function to cookies, and are used to more accurately track online movements of visitors, differentiating this traffic from search engine robots and crawlers.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file containing information that a web site transfers to your computer’s hard disk for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies for more accurate traffic analysis such as tracking the time and date of your visit, the pages viewed, the referring page and if it is a repeat visit.
Security
The security of your personal information is important to us resulting in use of the latest technologies to provide a secure environment for record retention both on and off-line. When you enter sensitive information on our registration form, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Look for the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox®, Netscape® Navigator and Windows® Internet Explorer as a sign you are on a secure page.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Online Giving and Links
If you choose to make an online donation, you will be directed to our form hosted by a third party provider, Convio® Inc. Online donations are processed through our merchant account, Global Payments® Inc. Information collected by Convio and Global Payments systems and shared with us will not include your credit card number. We only require name and address for properly recording your online gift. Please see Convio's privacy statement and Global's privacy statement for more information. Texas A&M Foundation is not responsible for the privacy or security procedures of the processor.
Calculators provided by Crescendo Interactive linked to gift planning information on our Web site, as well as links to Texas A&M University and other sites through our Web access, are subject to the privacy and security procedures of the provider and Texas A&M Foundation is not responsible for the content or privacy features of such third parties.
