Since Vision 2020 set the university’s sights on becoming one of the nation’s top public schools by the year 2020, every college has set higher goals for itself. To fulfill these aspirations, facilities must be state-of-the-art and faculty among the best in their field. Exceptional programs and facilities attract and retain exceptional faculty, who, in turn, attract the best graduate and undergraduate students. The priorities in every college and department are continually changing. That’s why we encourage you to consider a discretionary gift to the college or department of your choice. It’s both generous and practical.
"College Impact" means your gift will benefit a specific Texas A&M college, department or other administrative unit. Also included in this category are gifts you direct toward construction, renovation or equipping a lab. We use the term College Impact because these gifts in many cases affect an entire college, but these gifts also can be restricted to a department. For example, a gift to a college or department excellence fund allows the dean or department head to use the funds for specific unit priorities.
Here are a few examples of how your college or department might use your donation to an excellence fund:
In addition to discretionary funds, you also can support your college or department by donating equipment such as lab equipment or upgrading the communications equipment in a lecture hall. Some corporations contribute gifts-in-kind to support colleges and departments at Texas A&M.
The Choice Is Yours
You can choose to support a college or department with a pass-through gift to a now account, but most donors elect to make a gift that will last in perpetuity. An endowed gift impacts A&M academics forever, because the Foundation will distribute only the earnings on your investment.
