College of Veterinary Medicine
Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine (approx. 3,000 students) is one of the largest such academic units in the nation and the only veterinary school in Texas. The college produces about 10 percent of all the veterinarians in the United States. The Texas Veterinary Medical Center, which includes the college, offers care for all species of animals and houses several specialized centers and institutes.
Established in 1916, the college maintains its long-term commitment to preventing, treating and eradicating animal diseases. Behind our success in this endeavor stand our staff, students, faculty, alumni and friends. We strive to create an environment where each of these groups can realize their potential and help the college reach its goal of caring for all creatures great and small.
Funding Priorities
- Scholarships:
On average, a student in our professional program graduates with debts exceeding $40,000. Our top priority is scholarship endowments for the professional program. However, we also are seeking undergraduate scholarships for students in our Biomedical Science Program. This program prepares student to enter professional programs in areas such as medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. - Fellowships:
Our graduate students are the veterinary profession’s future leaders and scientists. Fellowships will provide them with needed assistance and recognition. - Faculty Positions:
Endowed faculty positions help attract and retain outstanding faculty. The college is seeking major gifts and pledges for professorships and chairs. - Facilities and Equipment:
A modern, efficient environment influence academic performance and enhances research efforts. The college seeks private gifts to purchase and maintain both facilities and equipment.
